(6) I had a dream I was in Laos…

We crossed over into Laos from Vietnam….we went from cool damp air to HOT and sunny! Laos is more beautiful than I could have imagined. I hope the photos ( though I am not shooting as many as I usually do) do this place even a bit of justice. When driving through the mountains and the farmland on the 12 hour journey to Vinh I fell asleep on Brian’s shoulder and woke after having a dream about the scenery, I had just been experiencing…hence the title of this post!

Bomb Boats
Crossing over Nam Thueun river…where the American Pilots dropped bombs that were left over from missions in Vietnam. Many unexploded bombs were converted into long tale boats and are still used today, over thirty years later. View the from bridge. 6 million bombs were dropped on a country we were not at war with the population of Laos was only 3 million…That is 2 bombs per person. There are many organisations that specialize in removing old unexploded cluster munitions..so that people can work the fields safely. We are looking into these and will give you some links later on if you are interested in reading more.
